Last night, I (with my office colleagues) attended ABS-CBN’s ‘Galaw, Galaw sa Tag-Araw’, a special gathering of Kapamilya’s advertisers intended to showcase their newest Primetime Bida offering. The star-studded event engaged Kapamilya’s guests on their current and upcoming teleseryes. The event was held at the NBC Tent in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Among the Prime Time Bida shows featured were Komiks Presents: Mars Ravelo’s Nasaan Ka Maruja?, which stars Kristine Hermosa, Derek Ramsay, and Karylle. Maruja is about a beautiful young lady who is haunted by a vague dream about ill-fated lovers from the past; Only You which stars Angel Locsin, Sam Milby, and Diether Ocampo. It is about an aspiring chef who joined a cooking contest to study culinary arts in different Asian countries, only to realise that skills aren’t just enough to pass the course. She then looked for a woman who will teach her the winning recipe, who happens to be the mother of an arrogant and wealthy businessman (played by Sam) she had a one-night stand with – the man who robbed her of her one shot at success. Other shows presented were Anne Curtis’ and Derek Ramsay’s The Wedding and Judy Ann’s Humiling Ka Sa Langit.
Hosting the event were the tandem of Pooh and Pokwang, who delighted guests with their hilarious antics.
The dashing Piolo Pascual rendered Maruja’s theme song, while the cast of Only You entertained the audience with their dance performance.
After a video presentation of the different prime time Bida shows and the finale performance of Only You casts came the most exciting and fun part – photo opportunities with Kapamilya Stars. Most sought after were Piolo Pascual, Angel Locsin, Kristine Hermosa, Sam Milby, Karylle, young stars Roxanne Guinoo, Jake Cuenca, Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks. Other stars present were Sam Concepcion, John Pratts, Enchiong Dee, and many more! Too bad I didn’t bring my Nikon DSLR. We had our photos taken with the Canon Powershot which turned out to be low in battery (but we were able to have our photos taken anyway), so we alternatively had our pics taken by a cellphone camera. Hey, i’m not complaining here as I surely enjoyed the Kapamilya event! It’s not often that we see and meet Kapamilya stars and be a part of the gathering in the first place.
‘Only You’ had its pilot run on April 27 while Maruja will be seen every Saturday night starting May 2.
