After a relaxing foot spa at the Mint hand and foot spa (now have a happy feet), I followed my hubby and our friends to Haagen-Dazs at the second level of SM Mall of Asia. My girlfriend was enjoying her ice cream while three of our male friends were playing Magic: The Gathering, a collectible card game.
We were chatting while my male friends were playing the card game for a while when suddenly, the store manager with an SM bodyguard approached my male friends and told them that “gambling” is prohibited in SM Malls. Sure, i commend SM Management for really making the mall a truly family-oriented mall and such activity (gambling) is prohibited. But Magic: The Gathering is a strategy card game and it is not gambling! Monies weren’t involved, how could it be gambling. Obviously, the lady store manager is ignorant about the card game for she deduced it as gambling. So she told us that we can’t play Magic in the store premises. I can’t remember the exact words of my male friend anymore, but in reply to the manager, he said sarcastically: “So we can’t do anything here that equates to having a good time”. The manager replied “yes” and further told us that only chitchatting and magazine reading are allowed in the store. Since, we all had a bad mood from the incident, we decided to pack our bags. Funny thing was, when we were leaving, the crew said their standard spiel: “Thank you Maam/Sir, please come again.” We told them we are not coming back.
The store was not even packed!
